The Buhler Band ended their competitive marching season by placing third at the Kansas Bandmasters State Competition last Saturday, Oct. 20, at Washburn University.
The Crusaders, 127 strong, were in fourth place going into the finals on Saturday night with a score of 80.18. The order of performance was determied by a drawing, so Buher took the field about 9:45 p.m.
The band performed their show entitled “Grand Canyon” before a a packed house of spectators. The 8-member judging panel for the event were from Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Tennessee and California.
In finals, Buhler was awarded 85.40 points by the judges for their performance. They lost to two 6A schools from Overland Park — Blue Valley West (89.63) and Blue Valley (86.90).
