When it “Reigns,” it pours!! After a clean sweep in Regional action last Saturday, with both the boys and the girls teams taking first place honors, the Buhler Crusader runners are headed to State! The teams are scheduled to compete tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Wamego Country Club. The 4A boys race will begin at 11:10 and the girls will start at 12:55.

The team left from BHS this morning about 10:45 to travel to Wamego to preview the course. (Thanks to Mrs. Whisler for the send off video.)

In girls’ action last Saturday at Regionals held at Prairie Ridge Park in Hutchisnon , sophomore Amaleigh Mattison finished second with a time of 21:00.1. Emma Willison was fifth (21:16.3), Megan Miller was ninth (21:59.9), Brityn Bobo, 11th (22:11.7); Daycee DeWindt,  12th (22:12.0); Jayla Gore, 13th (22:12.7); and Iris Rees, 21st (23:09.4). In cross country, the team with the lowest combined score of its top five runners wins. The Lady Crusaders took first place with 39 total points — adding the places of the top five runners. Second place was Wichita Trinity Academy with 72 points.

Freshman Tanner Lindahl lead the field in the Regional 5K race, finishing with a time of 16:55.8; teammate senior Rand Lohrentz was second with a time of 17:10.2. Cordel Hendrickson placed fourth (17:26.2) followed closely by fifth place runner Hayden Keller (17:57.0). Buhler’s fifth runner Brayden Dressman placed 12th with a time of 18:40.0. Colton Lohrentz was 17th, and Ryan Neill, 26th. The team took first with 24 points, beating Pratt who placed second with 62 points.
