Auditions were held on August 27 and students have been busy ever since learning lines and practicing music. Rehearsals have been held at least three days a week from 3:30-6 and 6:30-9.

“The choreography was difficult for all of us at first,” said Alena Maldonado, jr., who plays Pink Lady Jan. “We all saw Rachel (Thomson) do that and thought ‘what the heck’ but now we pretty much have it down.” (See attached video for proof that the cast was definitely “Born to Hand Jive”!)

The cast is now working on perfecting all aspects of the show. “It has to be even — choreography has to be as good as your vocals,” Maldonado said.

The show revolves around two “greaser” groups — The T-Birds and the Pink Ladies — and their antics during senior year at Rydell High School. Sandy from Australia meets Danny, head of the T-Birds, during summer vacation and sparks fly. When school starts, Danny thinks Sandy has returned to her homeland, but plans have changed and Sandy shows up at Rydell.

Sandy will be played by junior Rachel Thomson. Thomson is also the choreographer for the show.

The other Pink Ladies include Rizzo played by Carsyn Heinlein, sr.; Frenchy, Lindsey Maschler, sr.; and Marty, Addy Powers, jr.

The T-Birds include Danny played by Matthew Crawford, sr.; Kenickie, Gabe Spencer, jr.; Roger, Braxton Luman, sr.; Doody, Isaac Tice, jr.; and Sonny, Jacob Younger, jr.
